SYH Charterhouse – Background
SYH Charterhouse was formed by Michael Holt, Managing Director of our sister company, Charterhouse Standard Holdings.
The original Charterhouse Equity Release product was created as a solution to the particular situation of a customer who urgently needed to sell his home in order to provide a special level of care for his wife. An elderly man himself, he was concerned about what would happen to him if he sold his house in the usual way.
With Charterhouse’s unique insight gained from years of property expertise, we were able to approach the situation in a distinctly different way to a regular financial services company, and offer a solution specifically tailored to the couple’s needs.
As word of the Charterhouse Equity Release solution spread, more and more people discovered that it was right option for them too. Subsequently, Charterhouse created an independent Home Reversion company specifically designed to handle the increasing number of Equity Release related enquiries.
Following regulation of the market in 2007, the company became authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, and in September that year we re-branded to SYH Charterhouse Ltd.
Now authorised and regulated Equity Release Specialists, SYH offer a wide range of products including a variety Lifetime Mortgage and Home Reversion plans.
